Working Hard

Sorry we haven't written more. Our access to the computer is limited and the speed is a lot slower. I will try to send some photos tomorrow. We have been working really hard on the school building. We've gotten a lot of painting done inside and the men are busy building a large custom gutter to keep the rain out.

It is still warm here but rainy season started TODAY. Everything is cooler and wet now. Margie is especially happy for the rain to water her plants.

On Tuesday we took a break and drove to Guyana to see the sights and do some shopping for things they can't get here. We went across the ferry on a barge powered by two small boats with 15hp outboard motors. We had a picnic lunch of Guyanese takeout by a river on the way home. Our lunch for the 8 of us cost $2700 in Guyanese dollars (about $16 US dollars).

Yesterday we got to visit some friends of Dan and Margie's and had some very unique experiences. We took lots of pictures and will share those with you when we get home. We also got a lot of bug bites!

We are so enjoying our time with Dan and Margie!! Last night we went to prayer meeting with them (all in Portugese again) and met all the missionaries they work with.

Looking forward to sharing with you all when we get home. Thanks for praying for us. We are all well despite the bug bites and sunburns.

Hi Donna and all,

Don't apologize for not writing. You are there to take it all in and then, when you get back, you can tell us ALL about it.

How wonderful that you all have been able to help with the painting and gutters! I'm sure it will make a huge difference to Dan and Margie and their people. It's neat, too, that you've been able to see a little of the area and to meet some of Dan and Margie's friends. (Give Dan and Margie hugs for us!)

I hope your sunburns are better. (It sounds like several of you have burns. I knew you did, Darlene, but now I'll pray for the rest, too.) Mine has passed through the itching stage (and you have bug bites besides!) and is now very dry. Our poor Oregon skin has a hard time with the first blast of HOT.

Bonnie, I dreamed about you last night. Seems funny not to be going over to your house for Bible study.

Dick and I took chulupas to Cheryl at Milwaukie High School last night for dinner. She was working late and Andy was out of town. She looked great, and it's fun to see her and to meet some of her co-workers.

Well, better go for now. Miss you all. Love, Julie and Dick
